Our adventure begins with two days in Papeete, Tahiti, where attractions include the port’s own Notre Dame Cathedral, although the pictures on the stained glass here are a little different from those in its Parisian namesake – expect to see breadfruit, conch shells and other Polynesian references. Next, we visit Moorea, a cluster of peaks wrapped in a blue lagoon, then Raiatea, where there are mysterious petroglyphs to see, followed by the honeymooners’ idyll, Bora Bora. Two days at sea deliver us to Pago Pago port in American Samoa, one of the world’s deepest natural harbors. A further two sea days take us across the International Dateline, and to the final country on our voyage, Fiji. In Suva, there are local delicacies to try at the bustling Municipal Market, while in Lautoka, where our voyage concludes, you can wander the Garden of the Sleeping Giant serenaded by a symphony of birdsong.
